Process Compositions
Another thing that’s been filling my time recently is making little tunes where the composition is designed within a set of strict rules. The resulting pieces are usually not mind-blowing, but it’s been fun playing with the technique.

In this one, the lengths of phrases and notes are determined by their step in the scale.

This one is based on cycles of chords, where each cycle presents different voicings of the same notes. New notes are added systematically each cycle, thickening the texture, and making the cycles longer due to increased possibilities of different voicings.
